In 2024, Foundry artists didn't just make music, they made history. With chart topping hits and first ever performances, it was a year of firsts, breakthroughs, and unforgettable moments for the artists of YouTube Music Foundry.
"Independent does not mean small"
CeCe Recording artistEarlier this year, we introduced you to a diverse and incredibly talented group of rising stars and welcomed many more over the following months. We worked closely with them to get them the resources and support they needed to make their mark; and what a year it's been! From electrifying live performances to chart-topping hits, these artists have proven the power of independent music.
This video captures the eccentricity of Foundry and gives you an inside look at what indie artists aspire to put forth in the world through their music. Their stories are inspiring, their music is captivating, and their passion is undeniable. Here's a glimpse at some of their incredible achievements this year
- Tommy Richman reigned supreme on YouTube's Charts all year with his #1 hit "MILLION DOLLAR BABY" which capped off the year as the #1 Song on Shorts in the U.S.!
- Laila!, Orion Sun, and 2019 Foundry artist, Channel Tres, performed at our Foundry Music Night at the legendary Troubadour in LA in partnership with NIVA to a packed room of fans!
- CeCe appeared on stage and performed at Bloomberg's annual Screen Time making it clear that indie artists are "not looking for permission to be the artists that we wanna be."
- Cash Cobain hit the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in his career as a featured artist on "Attitude," with Don Toliver and Charlie Wilson.
- Suki Waterhouse (Coachella), Tanner Adell (Stagecoach), Tommy Richman, Laila!, Orion Sun (Camp Flog Gnaw) and LP Giobbi ( Portola) made the rounds on the summer festival circuit, with Ginger Root making his Coachella debut in 2025.
- Samara Cyn, Orion Sun, Laila! and Tanner Adell were featured on the inimitable COLORS.
Foundry's impact goes beyond individual success stories. By championing independent artists, we're fostering a more diverse and vibrant music ecosystem. We're empowering music makers to break boundaries, connect with fans, and share their unique voices with the world.
