GPA Midstream Welcomes Stuart Saulters as Vice President of Federal Affairs

GPA Midstream Association is pleased to announce the hiring of Stuart Saulters as Vice President of Federal Affairs, effective October 2024. In this role, Saulters will lead the association's federal advocacy efforts, working closely with government agencies, lawmakers, and GPA Midstream members to ensure that energy and climate policies support the efficient, affordable, and reliable delivery of energy. With deep expertise across various facets of the energy industry, Saulters' leadership will be critical as GPA Midstream navigates the complex policy landscape surrounding natural gas and energy transition issues.

Saulters brings with him a rich background in energy policy, engineering, and government relations. Prior to joining GPA Midstream, he served as Vice President of Government Relations at the American Public Gas Association (APGA), where he worked on behalf of municipal natural gas utilities. His work at APGA focused on advocating for policies that supported the use of natural gas as a key part of the nation's energy mix, especially in the context of serving local communities.

Before his time at APGA, Saulters spent several years as a senior policy advisor at the American Petroleum Institute (API), where he engaged with policymakers and stakeholders to shape energy policy at the federal level. He developed a strong understanding of the intersection of policy, regulation, and industry, making him well-equipped to take on the challenges at GPA Midstream.

Earlier in his career, Saulters was a design and facility engineer for Chevron. His work took him from the company's refinery operations in southern Mississippi to upstream assets in the Appalachian Basin, where he supported Chevron's efforts in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. This technical and operational foundation gives Saulters a unique perspective on how federal policies impact energy infrastructure and operations across the value chain.

Saulters holds a degree in civil engineering from Mississippi State University. He, his wife, daughter, and son reside in the Brookland neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

As the energy industry faces increasing pressure to balance the need for cleaner energy with maintaining reliable and affordable supply, GPA Midstream's advocacy work in Washington, D.C., has never been more important. Saulters is joining the association at a time when federal policies are rapidly evolving, and he is prepared to lead efforts to shape regulations that ensure natural gas continues to play a vital role in America's energy future.

GPA Midstream has served as the voice of the midstream industry since 1921, representing companies involved in the gathering, processing, transportation, and storage of natural gas and natural gas liquids. Through advocacy, technical standards, and education, GPA Midstream works to support the safe, sustainable, and efficient operation of midstream energy infrastructure.

Saulters' appointment reinforces the association's commitment to providing leadership on federal policy issues, ensuring that its members can continue to deliver the energy that powers the economy and supports national security. As the industry navigates an increasingly complex regulatory and policy envrionment, GPA Midstream remains focused on the critical role that natural gas and related infrastructure play in delivering affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy, both in the U.S. and around the world.
