NOPD Obtains Warrant for Arrest of Suspect in 2014 Homicide Incident

On September 16, 2024, NOPD Homicide Section Cold Case Unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Gordon Lewis (black male, DOB: 07-30-1991) in relation to a homicide incident that occurred on January 9, 2014, in the 4500 block of South Robertson Street.

On January 9, 2024, NOPD Second District officers responded to the 4500 block of South Robertson Street on a call of a subject down at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male subject had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later identified the victim as 30-year-old Michael Young and determined the cause of death to be from gunshot related injuries.

On September 16, 2024, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Lewis on one count of second-degree murder. Lewis was found to be in Louisiana Department of Corrections custody in DeQuincy, La on unrelated charges. Lewis will be extradited to Orleans Parish to face the murder charge.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
