SGMC Health Embarks on Next Stage of Main Campus Expansion

Rendering of the SGMC Health Main Campus Expansion

SGMC Health announces adjustments to patient and visitor parking and entrances in preparation for its main campus expansion in Valdosta, Georgia. Beginning Thursday, Sept. 12 all inpatients, outpatients, and their visitors should plan to enter the hospital through the main entrance off of Pendleton Dr. or through the Parking Deck. SGMC Health will operate Hospitality Centers at each of the entrances to ensure patients and visitors can easily get to their destination.

Emergency room patients will continue to enter through the current ER; however, there will be a new drop-off route and parking lot accessible from Cowart Ave. off of Ashley St.

The construction is expected to take approximately two years to complete and will occur in front of the current Dasher Heart Center, patient tower, and emergency department. While the Dasher/Outpatient Center entrance facing Woodrow Wilson will be closed during this time, all hospital services will continue to operate seamlessly without interruption.

An estimated $150 million investment, this initiative will bring about significant enhancements to the main campus and improve access to services. Among the notable improvements, the project includes construction of a uniquely designed women and infants tower with a dedicated entrance, a new emergency department and trauma center, and the relocation of the main entrance from Pendleton Drive to Woodrow Wilson Drive.

Patients and community members are encouraged to explore the dedicated expansion website at sgmc.org/growth where they can preview renderings, stay updated on news, observe real-time progress of the project, and access maps ahead of their visit whenever possible.
