SAN FRANCISCO - October 31, 2024 - Airports Council International - North America (ACI-NA), the foremost advocate for airport operators in North America, has honored San Francisco International Airport (SFO) for its new brand identity, unveiled in August 2024. In its 2024 Excellence in Airport Marketing Communications & Customer Experience Awards, ACI-NA named SFO as the winner in the Brand Identity category, which recognizes the airport that best demonstrates the visible elements of a brand that together identify and distinguish the airport in the minds of passengers.
"We are truly honored to be recognized by Airports Council International - North America for our new brand identity," said Airport Director Ivar C. Satero. "This refresh - our first in 24 years - reflects the exciting changes happening at SFO and demonstrates our commitment to deliver an airport experience where people and our planet come first. My thanks go out to our entire team for this achievement."
The debut of the new brand identity in August 2024 capped an 18-month process of market research and creative ideation. The new logo and brand showcase a digital-first design, allowing SFO's mark to be optimized for digital environments, scaling across different devices and screen sizes. The new font is readily available and easy to read, and the overall design provides creative flexibility to adapt to different messages.

The ACI-NA Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications, and Customer Experience Awards are comprised of 20 tactical award categories, encompassing three strategic disciplines of the profession. Awards are presented for best practices in marketing, communications, public relations, and customer experience. ACI-NA draws experts from the aviation industry, public relations, marketing, advertising, journalism, design, and special events fields for the panel of judges. Winners were announced on October 29th at ACI-NA's Marketing and Communications Conference, held in San Francisco.
