PORTER, IN - Indiana Dunes National Park is pleased to announce the application period for the two competitively selected Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA) providing snack bar services. The concession stands, strategically positioned at two of the park's most frequented locations, West Beach and Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk, play a crucial role in providing essential amenities to the park's roughly 2 million annual visitors. The competitive selection process emphasizes criteria such as sustainability practices, menu diversity, retail convenience items, and customer service standards.
The Park is seeking applications from interested parties to compete for food, beverage, and retail sales CUAs at either one or both the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk Pavilion and West Beach Bath House, both located in Portage, Indiana. Separate applications must be submitted for each location.
There is a $350.00 nonrefundable fee to process the application(s). There will be a secondary fee of $400 paid by check made payable to the National Park Service and included in the narrative portion of the application package. Once awarded, the CUA will be valid from March 1st, 2025, through November 30th, 2026.
Applications will be accepted during a designated 'open season' - beginning December 3, 2024, and ending January 9, 2025. Complete application packages, with payment, must be received no later than January 9, 2025, to be considered. There are no site visits scheduled for this announcement.
The first part of the Competitive CUA Application Package must be completed online in the CUA Portal located here: http://cua.nps.gov. The narrative portion of the application and the $400 check, made payable to the National Park Service, shall be sent to:

The concession stands should feature a menu with a variety of offerings designed to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of park visitors, including locally sourced ingredients (whenever possible) and options suitable for various dietary preferences.
