Update – Aggravated Assault – Arrest: C24-143545

As previously released, on June 23, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 100 block of Ritchie Avenue for the report of an adult male who had been assaulted.

Attending North District General Patrol officers located a 29-year-old victim suffering from serious injuries. Officers provided the victim with emergency medical care before the arrival of ambulance. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable. Multiple suspects fled before police arrived.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.

It was determined that the victim and his friend became involved in an argument over drugs and money. The suspect produced a knife and proceeded to stab the victim multiple times, causing serious injuries.

On June 25, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the suspect was located as a passenger in a vehicle in the area of McPhillips Street and Logan Avenue. He was taken into custody in relation to the aggravated assault and, in addition, found to be in possession of the following illicit drugs:

- Over 40 grams of methamphetamine - estimated street value $1800

- Over 15 grams of cocaine - estimated street value $1400

Erico Pasquale CAPOBIANCO, 20, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following:

- Aggravated Assault

- Possession of a Weapon

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2

- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (not own, possess or carry any weapon)

He was detained in custody as mandated by the Criminal Code.
