City of Albany Department of Water & Water Supply Responding to Water Transmission Main Break at Tiv

ALBANY, NY - The City of Albany Department of Water and Water Supply discovered a break in the 48-inch transmission main in Tivoli Preserve, connecting to the Loudonville Reservoir. AWD is mobilizing equipment and materials, is on the scene assessing the situation, and will start repairs as soon as possible.

Currently, AWD is closing valves to isolate the break. AWD does not expect the main break and repair to interrupt water service for residents, or impact water pressure. There may be a brief period of discolored water in parts of the system where the direction of flow in the pipe changes. Rest assured the water is safe; however, if customers experience discolored water they are advised to refrain from doing laundry until the water clears. AWD recommends running cold water until the water clears. If discolored water persists, please call the AWD Dispatch office at 518-434-5322.

The Department of Water and Water Supply is dedicated to resolving this issue promptly and efficiently, minimizing any inconvenience to our residents and businesses. AWD appreciates the community's patience and cooperation during this time. For continuous updates and information on water service restoration, please monitor AWD's official communication channels, including the Albany Water Department's social media platforms.
