Released on Saturday, August 24, 2024

Fort Collins, CO- On August 23, 2024, at approximately 8:30 P.M., Fort Collins Police were notified of a shooting near the Poudre River White Water Park in Fort Collins. Fort Collins Police Officers immediately began to respond. The investigation has revealed that an adult male and female, who were known to each other and staying in a motorhome in the parking lot at this location, had been involved in an argument. The female exited the motorhome with a firearm and fired multiple rounds at the male while chasing him in the area. The male was not hurt, and the female was taken into custody.

Detectives with the Fort Collins Police Criminal Impact Unit responded to assist with the investigation. At this point in the investigation, they have located one tent that was struck by a round fired from the gun. The tent was occupied but the occupants were not injured. Detectives are continuing to canvas the area but ask area residents and business owners to check their property for any potential damage and to report it to police if they locate any.

The adult female was booked into the Larimer County Detention Center on the following charges, with additional charges anticipated:

Attempted Murder- Extreme Indifference- 1 Count

Animal Cruelty- 1 Count

Domestic Violence

"The quick response and apprehension of this suspect certainly helped prevent injuries and further damage from this reckless firing of rounds. These types of actions will not be tolerated in, or by our community," said Lieutenant Adam Ruehlen who oversees the Fort Collins Police Criminal Impact Unit.

Anyone with information about this case who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Detective Dollie Knab at (970) 416-2195. Since this is still an ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.

Charges are merely an accusation by law enforcement and the suspect must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
