Overnight detours scheduled at Colonial Life Boulevard and I-126 Interchange in Richland County

​Columbia, S.C. (October 7, 2024) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct temporary overnight closures of the existing Colonial Life Boulevard on-ramp to I-126 Eastbound. The closure will start at 9:00 p.m. on October 8 and will continue overnight until October 9 at 5:00 a.m. This closure and detour will then resume at 9:00 p.m. on October 9 and end October 10 at 5:00 a.m.

Motorists who need to access I-126 EB from Colonial Life Boulevard will be detoured to Broad River Road and then to the Greystone Boulevard/I-126 Interchange. A map of the detour is provided below.

This temporary closure will allow SCDOT to continue construction of the expanded Colonial Life Boulevard interchange as part of Phase 1 of the Carolina Crossroads Project.

Signs will be posted to direct motorists through the detour route. Drivers may experience temporary slowdowns and stops in traffic and are advised to use caution, plan accordingly, and follow posted instructions.
