FORT GREGG-ADAMS, Va. - Commissary customers nationwide can stock up on their favorite items while enjoying even deeper savings during the Defense Commissary Agency's (DeCA) sidewalk sales event running through September.

All 177 stateside commissary locations will participate, weather permitting. Most stores will host two- or three-day events; however, dates will vary for each commissary. Overseas customers should contact their local stores to see what specific promotions are occurring in their community during September.

To see scheduled sale dates for each store, visit the sidewalk sales webpage. Patrons should also check their store's webpage or talk with their store manager for any late changes, including weather-related postponements.

Sidewalk sales will typically be:

  • held over two to three days
  • designed to offer extra savings to customers
  • located on sidewalks immediately outside DeCA stores, weather permitting.

"We are proud to deliver commissary benefits to the men and women who served our nation and the eligible family members who supported them," said Navy Command Master Chief Mario Rivers, senior enlisted advisor to the DeCA director. "DeCA's sidewalk sales are a great way for our military community to take advantage of even bigger savings offered."

As DeCA strives to deliver the best in service for customers every day, September's sidewalk sales offer a special opportunity to help the military community save even more on a broad selection of quality products. Types of products available during the sale include:

  • Snacks, such as nuts, chips and candy
  • Cold cereals
  • Beverages (including flavored water), juices and energy drinks
  • International foods
  • Baking and canned goods
  • Pet food
  • Non-food items, such as paper towels, toilet paper, wipes and cleaning products
  • Baby products
  • Health and beauty products.

According to Rivers, sidewalk sales are just one of the ways commissaries work to thank patrons. "We can never thank our military enough for their dedicated service. However, we can ensure we do our best to deliver the savings they deserve and strive to be our customers' grocery provider of choice," he said.
