One-way traffic control still needed during 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays

Sonoma County -- Caltrans is scheduled to restore two-way traffic during non-work hours and the weekends on State Route 1 (Shoreline Highway) near Jenner at Meyers Grade Road starting Monday, July 22. Construction on the retaining wall project after that date will require one-way traffic control with flaggers during 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

SR-1 was under one-way traffic control seven days a week via a temporary signal system since February 2024. Before that, the same signal system was in place between November 2022 and October 2023. Construction on this project is near complete, and the signal system is no longer needed as the southbound lane has been restored.

Caltrans is finishing the retaining wall project in an area about a quarter mile north of Myers Grade Road - about five miles north of Jenner and about five miles south of Fort Ross.

Caltrans has been constructing a half-mile-long retaining wall on the ocean side of SR-1.

To allow room for construction, Caltrans closed the southbound lane and installed two traffic signals to control vehicles at each end of the project.

Construction crews are building the wall about a mile south of a recently completed retaining wall project, where in 2020/21, Caltrans replaced four retaining walls that were badly damaged in the Myers Fire of August 2020.
