Municipal Archives Hosts Springfield Terrace School Community Archiving Event
SAVANNAH - The City of Savannah's Municipal Archives Department will host the Springfield Terrace School Community Archiving Event at the Adams Complex Administrative Building on Friday, Aug. 16 and Saturday, Aug. 17.
This event aims to document and collect the unique history of the historic 1926 Springfield Terrace School building-also known as the Pearl Lee Smith School and Oglethorpe Charter Academy-ensuring the stories of the school and the people associated with it are preserved and available to all residents, now and into the future.
Information collected will aid the City in preparing public programs and exhibits to be featured at this historic site in the future.
This event is open to all who have a relationship to the school property, including former students, faculty, and staff of Springfield Terrace School, Pearl Lee Smith School, the transitional school, or Oglethorpe Charter Academy, individuals who used the school grounds for sports and recreation, neighboring residents, and all who have stories and memories to share about this important site.
This event will feature a variety of collection methods, including:
