U Haul Offers Free U Box Container Storage after Omaha Storms

OMAHA, Neb. (Aug. 2, 2024) - U-Haul^® is providing 30 days of free U-Box^® container usage at four stores in Omaha and Council Bluffs to residents impacted by extreme weather that struck the region on Wednesday.

Severe thunderstorms wreaked havoc in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, leaving over 250,000 residents and businesses without power. Wind gusts reached 90 mph. Numerous residential properties suffered damage to roofs, windows, trees and more.

Access to dry and secure portable storage containers is critical for communities during the recovery process.

"Many residents experienced damage to their homes due to the strong winds in the area," said Doughlas Graham, U-Haul Company of Nebraska president. "We wish to extend help to our neighbors by offering one month of free U-Box services to those in need."
