Man Arrested for Shooting Another, Attempted Robbery in South Seattle

Seattle Police arrested a man for shooting another and attempted robbery in South Seattle Friday evening.

On August 2nd at about 7:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting near Rainier Avenue South and South Alaska Street. Police located a male, 59, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, fracturing his femur.

The Seattle Fire Department arrived on scene and provided medical treatment to the victim. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

The suspect fled the immediate area. Officers collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.

The Tukwila Police Department and King County Sheriff's Office K9 teams assisted with the search. Another victim reported being threatened by the armed male during this time.

After an extensive search police located the suspect not far from the shooting scene and took him into custody. They were unable to locate the firearm.

The 39-year-old man was arrested and booked into King County Jail for felony Investigation of Assault and attempted Robbery.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation.

Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit arrived on scene have taken lead on this case.
