Former WWU staffer David Kincaid passed away on July 17 at St. Joseph's Hospital at the age of 89.

Kincaid retired in 2001 after 34 years of service to the university; at the time of his retirement, Kincaid held the position of assistant director of Fiscal/Business/Program Services at Western.

According to Francine, his wife of 35 years, Kincaid loved his job, and loved the university.

"He started out in Housing in the 1960s and then went to the Physical Plant for around 30 years. He was an accountant and did budgeting and long term planning, purchased all the university vehicles, was in charge of the motor pool, planned for preventative maintenance for vehicles, and so forth. He loved his job. David felt that he had so much variety in his work, and being at the physical plant was a joy for him," she said.

Kincaid is survived by his wife, two sons, three stepchildren including WWU's Christina Van Wingerden, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
