ICANN Signs Memorandum of Understanding with EDP University of Puerto Rico

Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EDP University of Puerto Rico. This agreement will advance shared goals and enhance collaboration on initiatives to boost community engagement and capacity building related to ICANN's policy development and the Internet's unique identifier systems.

This Memorandum of Understanding with ICANN represents a significant milestone in our journey to enhance educational and professional opportunities for our students and stakeholders. By collaborating on initiatives focused on Internet security and stability, we are not only strengthening our academic offerings but also contributing to the development of a safer and more connected world. We are excited to deepen our engagement with ICANN and look forward to the impactful work ahead" said Gladys Nieves, President, EDP University.

Per the objectives of the MoU, ICANN and EDP University will collaborate and promote community outreach activities, including discussions and capacity development sessions, to assist EDP University members and stakeholders in participating in ICANN's policy development processes. Additionally, they will work together to promote ICANN's Newcomer programs such as the Fellowship Program and NextGen@ICANN Program to encourage participation within the local community. ICANN and EDP University will jointly explore new training and capacity-building events for EDP University students and stakeholders. These initiatives will focus on key areas of shared interest, such as Internet security and stability, to enhance awareness and build expertise in these essential areas .
