EPD Motorcycles and Vehicles Get Pink Ribbon Treatment for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Be on the lookout for any of the 50 police vehicles featuring the distinctive pink Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October 1 - October 31). Uniformed department members are also authorized during the month to wear a pink shirt under their uniform, and non-uniformed staff can wear a pink ribbon pin.

Many Eugene Police staff members have had their lives touched in some way by breast cancer and stand in support of those currently fighting this disease. All of us know the impact of breast cancer and you do not have to look very far within the department or in this community to find amazing people who have survived this deadly disease.

The international symbol of breast cancer awareness is a pink ribbon. The color pink also is an expression of moral support for people with breast cancer. According to recent statistics, more than 360,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024. Education, awareness and early detection remain the greatest factors in combating breast cancer.
