Public and Agency Notice
Pursuant to AS 38.05.945

Subject to AS 38.05.083, the Southcentral Regional Land Office (SCRO) has made a Preliminary Decision to offer a 10-year lease to City of Ouzinkie dba Spruce Island Farms for 24.9 acres, more or less, of state-owned tide and submerged lands for the operation of an aquatic farmsite for the purpose of cultivating four species of kelp: sugar kelp, ribbon kelp, bull kelp, and giant kelp. The location of the project area is further described as being within NW1/4 of Section 29 and NE1/4 of Section 30, Township 26 South, Range 19 West, Seward Meridian, within an unnamed cove in the northeastern portion of Narrow Strait at the southeastern side of Spruce Island, approximately 2.8 miles southeast from the community of Ouzinkie, Alaska.

The public and agencies are invited to review and comment on this proposed project. A copy of the decision can be found at https://aws.state.ak.us/OnlinePublicNotices/default.aspxor is available in hardcopy upon request. All comments must be received in writing at the above listed mailing address or e-mail on or before December 5, 2024. To be eligible to appeal DNR's Final Decision, under AS 38.05.035(i)-(m), a person must have submitted written comments during this comment period.
