Hiding Herrell: Yvette Herrell Was the Only Congressional Candidate to Miss Candidate Forum

Today, Congressman Gabe Vasquez attended a candidate forum with the All Pueblo Council of Governors with every congressional candidate except for Yvette Herrell. Candidates from both sides of the aisle running in NM-01 and NM-03 attended.

Vasquez has a long track record of standing up for New Mexico tribes. He introduced the Parity for Tribal Education Act, which ensures that Tribal educators receive the same federal retirement benefits as other educators, and the REACH Our Tribes Act, which amplifies the voices of Tribal governments in decisions affecting their communities.

It's no surprise that Herrell is ducking public events where she'd get questions about her record from everyday New Mexicans. Herrell doesn't want to talk about her extreme anti-abortion agenda and being on tape saying she "wish[es] we could have eliminated all abortion in the state."
