Nov. 11, 2024 - The City Council will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 13, for its regular work session at 1 p.m. and legislative session at 6:30. Both meetings will be in chambers on the eighth floor of City Hall, 22 Lincoln St.
The legislative session will include public hearings on use permits filed by Hampton University and by the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, as well as two re-zoning permits. There will also be discussion of plans for the Urban League and The 200+ Men Foundation to use the Y.H. Thomas Community Center for programming and other office functions.
The afternoon work session will include a discussion of the funding of outside agencies. Since 2008, the city has eliminated funding for outside agencies unless the services provided directly support city departments. Last month the City Council heard a briefing on options for expanding that funding, and this week some of those options will be discussed. The afternoon session will also hear a briefing on a proposed ordinance to formally register derelict buildings that have been vacant for a year or longer.

Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, these will be the City Council's only meetings in November.
