Geisinger Health Plan offers Medicare Advantage plans for veterans
DANVILLE, Pa. - Veterans can select special Medicare Advantage plans geared toward them from Geisinger Health Plan (GHP) during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, which ends Dec. 7.
Veterans can receive Veteran Affairs (VA) health care benefits and Medicare benefits when they become eligible. Medicare Advantage plans provide veterans with more non-VA health care facility options when seeking care closer to home, including access to senior-focused care at Geisinger 65 Forward's enhanced primary care centers.
"Geisinger Health Plan recognizes and honors the special role veterans have played for our country and their unique health care needs," said Kurt Wrobel, Geisinger Health Plan president. "That's why GHP offers plans tailored just for them."
Having added health coverage can give veterans more services and opportunities to live a healthier life. Plans like GHP's Geisinger Gold Heritage HMO provide extra coverage without adding a monthly payment.
Geisinger 65 Forward is a perk veterans can enjoy as Geisinger Gold Medicare Advantage plan members:
• The Heritage HMO plan includes exclusive access to Geisinger 65 Forward. These senior-focused health centers deliver comprehensive services including same-day appointments, as well as on-site labs and imaging.
o 65 Forward incorporates exercise, social and educational activities like strength and balance training, walker and cane fittings and group classes to keep members happier and healthier.
o Program data shows 65 Forward participation lowers inpatient admissions by 15% and emergency room visits by 40%.
