Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received ‘Supreme Order of Turkic World’

This year, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been awarded the decoration 'Supreme Order of the Turkic World' on the occasion of the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister's press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday in Bishkek.

The award was handed over to the Hungarian Prime Minister by President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.

The 'Supreme Order of the Turkic World' is the highest order of the Organization of Turkic States which was established in 2019. The order is awarded to outstanding leaders who significantly contribute to the reinforcement of unity and cooperation among Turkic states and the fostering of their joint cultural heritage.

According to the official laudation, Mr Orbán was awarded the order "for his outstanding efforts with a view to strengthening ties between Hungary and Turkic states as well as for his significant contribution to promoting cooperation within the Turkic world."

According to his press chief's report, in his acceptance speech, Mr Orbán said we Hungarians are the most westerly eastern people, we migrated to Europe from the East, and from among similar migrating peoples, we alone have survived. He said it is important that the relationship between Hungary and the Turkic world should be a living relationship, rather than a concluded past. He highlighted that he regarded the award not as a personal merit because there was the labour of a great many people from the past one hundred years behind this award. He finally said he believes that the community of Turkic peoples will be one of the world's most successful regions.
