October 2024 APA Board Meeting Preliminary Agenda


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, October 17th, 2024. The meeting will be held at the Agency's headquarters in Ray Brook, NY. The public is welcome to attend in person or remotely.

Public comment will be available to members of the public who attend the Agency meeting in person as well as those who participate remotely. If you would like the opportunity to make a public comment remotely, please email your name and the phone number used to call into the Board Meeting to [email protected]. Those who sign up for public comment will be limited to three minutes each. Public comment will not be accepted on any agenda items that are before the Board.

On Thursday at 9:30 a.m., the Full Agency will convene for Executive Director Barbara Rice's monthly report, public comment, and other procedural actions.

At 10:00 a.m., the State Land Committee will hear a presentation from Olympic Regional Development Authority and Agency staff on management actions and State Land Master Plan (SLMP) considerations for the proposed draft amendment to the 1986 Mount Van Hoevenberg Unit Management Plan. Agency staff will then seek authorization to initiate a joint public comment period with the Department of Environmental Conservation to solicit input on the amendment and its conformance with the SLMP.

At 11:00 a.m., the Local Government Services committee will hear an informational presentation from 2024 Community Design and Planning intern Mistaya Smith about two community-focused planning initiatives for the Towns of Keene and Hague, which included creating conceptual designs, mapping recreational assets, and developing project narratives.

At 1:00 p.m., the Park Ecology Committee will convene for an informational presentation from the NYSDEC and Cornell University on the status of moose in New York State and the impacts of parasites on population health.

At 2:00 p.m., the Full Agency will convene to take any necessary actions.
