Seeking Education Coordinator for ACRH-HW

This position will primarily support the Alaska Center for Rural Health and Health Workforce (ACRH-HW), by providing coordination and administrative support for the Alaska InMed Program which is funded through the Indian Health Services American Indians into Medicine grant. The primary focus of this role is the coordination of the Della Keats program. The position will also include some travel to rural communities to provide health careers exploration outreach to K-12 students. In addition, the position will support the planning and implementation of an Alaska Native Health Student Learning Community for undergraduate students.

To thrive in this role, a candidate should share in the belief in the ACRH-HW mission to grow our Alaskan health workforce and the desire to see students succeed. Candidates should be very comfortable with public speaking and familiar with health care. Strong organizational skills are needed, including planning, coordinating, and performing trainings such as Basic Life Support and Mental Health First Aid. A basic understanding of computer information systems and applicable software and databases is expected in this role. Our coordinators work directly with school staff to put together trainings, which will require flexibility, exercising good judgment, and analyzing situations in order to make decisions. Patience and understanding are needed while interacting with middle and high school students, as well as a passion to see all students succeed.

Our education coordinators often travel in teams, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups is needed. Education coordinators may occasionally travel as solo instructors and the ability to successfully manage small groups of youth is also needed.

Day-to-day work will be performed independently, but the program directors will give assignments and direction.
