Energy Zone to Remain Open Until 8 p.m. on Evening of

Monday, August 26

UTICA-The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will host its free "Wild Nights" event at the John S. Dyson New York Energy Zone on Monday, August 26 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The visitors center, which is typically open seven days a week between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., will extend its operating hours to complement the neighboring Utica Zoo's free evening hours on the same date.

During the event, visitors to the Energy Zone can participate in arts and crafts activities and will have access to the site's more than 40 interactive exhibits and 3-D movie.

The New York Energy Zone is a fully immersive and hands-on science center designed for visitors of all ages, guiding guests on a powerful journey through the past, present, and future of electricity. Visits to the 15,000 square-foot facility kickoff with an eye-popping 3-D movie-directed by legendary filmmaker Douglas Trumbull-about famed inventor Nikola Tesla and his contributions to modern electricity systems. This sets the stage for more than 40 interactive displays and games that include flying a drone, checking transmission lines, operating a power plant, and building a tabletop microgrid.
