Joining the EU Foreign Affairs Council Mr Kefalogiannisstated:
"Today we will talk not just about Ukraine, but also about the defence readiness of the European Union. The geopolitical scenery requires more robust effort for the acceleration and enhancement of readiness and capacity of the European Union to respond to emerging challenges. The strategic autonomy of the European Union depends on investment in research, innovation and joint defence projects.
Greece, from very early on, has stood on the front-line, along with the rest of the countries, in order to spur on the conducted efforts, so as to achieve the strategic goals of the European Union.
In this context, I remind you that with Poland we have suggested the creation of an anti-missile shield, a monumental project, which will enhance the anti-aircraft defence of the continent and provide a deterrent force against any threat. The strategic autonomy of the European Union constitutes the key, so we can respond to the countering of any challenges, external dangers and crises".
