Firework Safety

As we celebrate our country's independence, fireworks light up the night sky. While the display can be breathtaking, it can also be dangerous. Fireworks cause an estimated 19,500 reported fires in the United States, each year.

This year let's keep our family, friends, homes, and community safe by leaving firework displays to the professionals. Consider joining the fun at the Clemson MBA Fireworks Display at Unity Park on July 4th from 6 - 10 pm, with fireworks beginning around 9:30 pm.

And don't forget to get into the holiday fun, by trying out some of these safe and family-friendly activities.

All the Fun, Without the Fire:

  • Use glow sticks as an alternative to sparklers or fireworks. They glow in the dark and are safe for all ages.
  • Celebrate loudly and proudly with noise makers found at most party supply stores.
  • Red, white, and blue silly string shows patriotism while keeping your family and home safe.

If you decide to go the Fireworks DIY route, review the following tips for a safe holiday experience.

Fireworks Safety Tips:

  • Never use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
  • Anyone using fireworks or standing nearby should wear protective eyewear.
  • Never hold lighted fireworks in your hands.
  • Never light fireworks indoors.
  • Only use fireworks away from people, houses, and flammable materials.
  • Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
  • Only light one device at a time and maintain a safe distance after lighting.
