On Friday, July 19th, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles joined Congressman Tony Cardenas to announce and celebrate his advocacy to bring over $3.5M in federal funding for the installation of energy-efficient A/C and cool roofs at the public housing site. Built in 1955, the San Fernando Gardens were not constructed to withstand the record-breaking heatwaves caused by climate change and the ongoing strain on our electrical grid. The funding will bring 448 energy-efficient AC units to help provide relief for over 1,400 residents.
