PHILADELPHIA - Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Secretary-Treasurer Rocio Sáenz will be joining members of SEIU's Latino Caucus, 32BJ SEIU members and other union members tomorrow, Saturday, September 21, to canvas for the Harris-Walz Campaign in Philadelphia. Sáenz, who became the the first Latina to become the union's second-ranking executive in May, will rally activists for a Unions for All agenda alongside 32BJ President Manny Pastreich and Executive Vice President, Jaime Contreras before hitting the streets to knock on voters' doors. SEIU, which represents nearly two million workers and is focused on turning out six million working-class voters in this year's election.
Saturday's canvas comes on the heels of SEIU launching a seven-figure paid media program in support of the Harris-Walz ticket and worker-friendly Senate and Gubernatorial candidates across nine key states - Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The campaign, "The Workers' Election," includes ads in seven languages, including English, Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese, Vietnamese, and features workers and SEIU union members discussing what's at stake in 2024.
