Baker Donelson's Tenia L. Clayton Awarded ABA Health Law Section Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship

As part of the Fellowship program, Ms. Clayton will receive guidance from a dedicated mentor, participate in the Business and Transactions Interest Group, and engage in networking and professional opportunities. She and her fellow awardees recently attended the Section's Annual Leadership Meeting in Denver, Colorado, and will be recognized at the April 2025 Emerging Issues in Healthcare Conference in Long Beach, California.

An associate in Baker Donelson's Nashville office, Ms. Clayton is a health care attorney with a focus on transactions and other corporate matters, as well as regulatory and compliance matters. She advises clients on a variety of transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and closings. Her clients include an array of health care organizations, such as hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, behavioral health facilities, and physician-owned practices. She has experience counseling on state privacy laws and incident response and compliance obligations imposed by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as well as 42 CFR Part 2. Additional compliance matters that Ms. Clayton has worked on include fraud and abuse review and corporate practice of medicine. She has advised organ procurement organizations on federal and state regulatory compliance issues and the analysis and implication of proposed rules, among other issues.

Ms. Clayton is a cum laude graduate of Belmont University College of Law, where she earned both her law degree and a certificate in Health Law, and she holds a B.A. in Human Health from Emory University. She is a member of the American Health Law Association, Leadership Health Care, and the American Bar Association. Before attending law school, she completed a term of service with AmeriCorps.
