Five Women To Be Charged For Affray

The Police have arrested five women, aged between 34 and 47, for their suspected involvement in a case of affray.

On 19 May 2024 at about 2.55pm, the Police were alerted to a case of fight along 15 Paya Lebar Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 47-year-old woman together with two other women aged 44 and 34, allegedly had an altercation with a 46-year-old woman whom they had a previous dispute with. Another 35-year-old woman purportedly joined in to side with the 46-year-old woman and a fight broke out between the two groups.

Four women, aged between 34 and 46, were arrested on the same day. Through follow up investigations, the 47-year-old woman was identified and arrested on 27 May 2024.

The five women will be charged in court on 15 August 2024 with the offence of affray under Section 267A of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to one year, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.

The Police have zero tolerance towards acts of violence with blatant disregard of the law. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
