Buying a Bed for Your Best Friend: All About Pet Beds & Accessories

As pet lovers, one thing's for certain: furry friends are considered part of the family. Our pets are always there for us to love on and snuggle, keep us company after a long day and make us feel loved.

There isn't much that we wouldn't do for our favorite pets, which is why we've made an important decision: Mattress Firm has added pet beds and accessories to our inventory.

Not only did we add beds, we also have a selection of cat scratchers, pet blankets, and other accessories that help you create an environment for your furry pal to lounge, play, and sleep comfortably - off the couch and out of your bed

How Do I Choose the Right Pet Bed?

If you're thinking of treating your pets to a good night's sleep, here are a few questions to ask yourself before you check out:

Where does my pet typically sleep?

If your pet is used to sleeping on the bed with you, getting them a separate bed will require a transition period. Keeping this in mind, it may take a few weeks for them to adjust - but it'll be worth it to get that much needed free space on your own mattress.

If your pet already sleeps on their own bed, the transition should be seamless and your pet will be snoozing comfortably in no time.

How big is my pet?

This question also depends on how old your pet is. Are they still expected to grow? Asking these questions will help you choose which bed size is right for you and your furry friends - bearing in mind that it may be smart to get a bigger bed than you initially need if your pet is still growing.

When searching for a dog bed or cat bed, try to find one that's the right size for your pet, which is a few inches longer and a few inches wider than the dog or cat when lying down. Check out the PetFusion Ultimate Pet Bed and Lounge, which comes in four different sizes to make sure your dog or cat has all the room they need to be comfortable.

Is my pet older and in need of some extra cushion?

Older dogs may experience pain or arthritis - similar to humans. Consider upgrading your pet's sleeping game by switching to a memory foam bed. They'll sleep comfortably and so will you knowing that you treated your pet to the best.

If your dog sleeps in a crate, Mattress Firm recommends getting rid of the dirty towels or wadded up blankets and consider a specific crate mattress that will keep them comfortable and contained.

Also consider the temperature - your pet is going to want a soft blanket, specially designed for our furry friends, to stay warm all night long.

Are there other accessories my pet may need?

There are several other items we carry that would be perfect for your furry animal. Blankets or pet bed covers? We've got them. Cat lounges and scratchers? You bet. Take advantage of Mattress Firm's low-price products for your furry friends. Your pets will thank you.
