State Police investigate fatal train incident

On July 5, 2024, State Police responded to the area of River Road in Schodack, NY, for the reports of a pedestrian struck by a train.

On July 5, 2024, at about 8:50 a.m. Troopers responded to the area of River Road in Schodack, NY, for the reports of a pedestrian struck by a passenger Amtrak Train. The train stopped following the incident and immediately contacted emergency services. The pedestrian was located and determined to be deceased. The railway tracks were closed in both directions for approximately three and a half hours for the investigation and have since been reopened. State Police was assisted at the scene by Schodack Police Department, Amtrak and numerous Fire Agencies.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Pending proper notifications, the pedestrian's name will not be released at this time.
