Opening of Market in Chinese Taipei for Export of Pet Foods Derived from Cloven Hoofed Animals or Birds Joint Statement from MRE/MAPA

The Brazilian government has received with satisfaction the new announcement of sanitary approval by Chinese Taipei for the importation of pet foods derived from cloven-hoofed animals or birds.

Cloven-hoofed animals have hooves split into two parts, such as cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. Non-conventional pets include species like turtles, parrots, rabbits, chinchillas, hamsters, among others.

Chinese Taipei is an important destination for Brazilian agricultural products. In the first half of this year, Brazil exported $712 million to that market. This is the second market opened by Chinese Taipei to Brazilian products in less than a week.

With this announcement, the Brazilian agribusiness sector has achieved its 88th market opening of the current year, totaling 166 openings in 55 destinations since the beginning of 2023.

These results are the outcome of the joint effort of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa).
