Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Scotia Street and provides update on Langside Street fire

Winnipeg, MB- At 10:38 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 200 block of Scotia Street.

Upon arrival on scene, crews found smoke coming from the house. They launched a fire attack from the interior of the house. The fire was declared under control at 10:51 a.m.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Langside Street fire update

As crews worked to complete extinguishment of the fire on Langside Street this morning, it was discovered that the house had sustained significant structural damage. An emergency demolition was ordered. A demolition crew attended, and the house was taken down.
