City of Providence Conducts Evacuation Drills to Increase Culture of Preparedness

As part of the City's ongoing effort to prioritize safety awareness and preparedness the Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) in collaboration with the Providence Fire Department will conduct evacuation drills at City Hall, 444 Westminster Street, the Providence Public Safety Complex and the Department of Public Works buildings.

The exercises are aimed at training and familiarizing employees on proper evacuation procedures. There is no action needed by the public but be aware this is not an emergency situation. These buildings will be closed to the public for the duration of these evacuation exercises.

WHEN:The drills for each building will start at 12:00PM on the assigned date and all City staff and visitors will be required to follow evacuation instructions. In order to successfully complete these drills, each City building will be closed from 12:00-1:00pmon their assigned drill date.

WHERE:Drills will be conducted on the following dates for each building:

  • September 16- 444 Westminster
  • September 23- Public Safety Complex
  • September 30- City Hall
  • October 7- Department of Public Works
