ST. LOUIS - People who live, work, commute and recreate along I-64 between Jefferson and Kingshighway may want to participate in an upcoming public meeting to view and comment on a recommended concept for the corridor TODAY.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and its community partners, will be hosting an open-house style public meeting TODAY. The meeting will be held between 4 and 7 p.m. at 18 Rails, City Foundry, 3700 Foundry Way, St. Louis, MO 63110.
Public participation in the meeting will help drive the next steps of making this vision a reality. The information shared by the stakeholders, residents and other users of the corridor will help determine which portions of the concept should be funded first and how soon they should be built.
During the meeting, engineers and planners will be available to discuss the recommended concept for corridor improvement options along I-64 between Kingshighway and Jefferson Avenue. In addition, MoDOT will share currently available information on planned bridge work along I-64 over Vandeventer, currently set to start in 2027. There will be no formal presentation and participants can attend anytime today between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. For those who cannot attend the in-person open house, information is available on-line at Interstate 64 Conceptual Study in St. Louis City | Missouri Department of Transportation the day of the meeting.
This public meeting is part of an ongoing study for the I-64 central corridor called: Future64: Community. Transportation. Together. Insight from the community has been and continues to be an important element is determining and evaluating possible options. As a result, this study will incorporate ongoing engagement that is equitable and inclusive to help ensure that a wide range and variety of voices are heard, and that equity is the focus of the recommended concept.
Future64 is looking at the potential impact future projects will have on the environment, community, and connectivity in the area. This study will help MoDOT ensure that any transportation improvements within the corridor will be of great benefit to people using it.
MoDOT is conducting Future64 in conjunction with the City of St. Louis, East-West Gateway Council of Governments, Bi-State Development, and several community partners. Although, improvements identified by Future64 will mostly affect MoDOT's infrastructure, it will also include suggested improvements to other transportation systems maintained by other partners, and the department will partner with those agencies to fund and schedule those improvements.
