Undersecretary Tripodi co-chaired the bilateral political consultations mechanism between Italy and Peru

The Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, co-chaired the fourth meeting of the Bilateral Political Consultations Mechanism with Peru's Deputy Foreign Minister, John Peter Camino Cannock. This meeting holds particular significance, marking five years since the last official visit to Peru by a member of the Italian government.

Topics discussed included: trade relations, mutual investment opportunities, safeguarding the use of the Italian language, activities of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit of the Carabinieri, and archaeological missions. Focus was placed on the XII Italy-Latin America and Caribbean Conference, regional crises in Venezuela and Haiti, relations with the European Union, including opportunities arising from the Multiparty Trade Agreement and initiatives of the "Global Gateway" for Italian businesses.

Following the political consultations, Undersecretary Tripodi, accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to Peru, Massimiliano Mazzanti, visited with Deputy Minister Cannock the photographic and documentary exhibition dedicated to the 150th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations and attended the ceremony for the presentation of the special commemorative stamp edition marking the same anniversary.

"Peru is an extraordinary country," commented the Undersecretary. "I have invited my counterpart to Rome to continue the fruitful dialogue initiated in various fields. The Italian government now has a clear strategy for Latin America, based on a consistent political presence in the region and enhanced dialogue with our partners, which is essential to addressing global challenges."
