Lakewood's first Holiday Home Decoration Contest is looking for homes decked out in holiday spirit: colorful lights, sparkling displays, vintage roof ornaments, themed inflatable decorations…or any combination. Traditional, contemporary or fantastical, we want to see how Lakewood decorates for the holidays!

If your home is one of the five winners chosen, the Lakewood City Council will hand deliver congratulatory items, including a lawn sign, to your home on Sunday evening, Dec. 15, joined by the city photographer and Lakewood CityTV.

The winning homes will be featured in an upcoming special LakewoodConnect emagazine as well as a CityTV video. The eMagazine will indicate the addresses of the five winning homes in case residents want to come see.

Here's how to enter

• Take a clear photo of the entire front-facing exterior of your home showing your display at night.
• Be sure your photo file name contains your street address, such as 1234MainStreet.
• Complete the contest entry form online and upload your photo.
• Be sure to submit your entry no later than noon on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The nomination form will close when a maximum of 50 entries are received or by noon on Dec. 10, whichever is sooner, so don't wait to submit your entry.

Contest rules

• Must be a Lakewood resident to participate.
• Only one entry per household, and only self-nominations are accepted. We need to be sure the resident wants to be nominated and is providing their contact information.
• A panel of judges will select five winners from the nominations received.
• Winners will be notified by Dec. 13 to confirm they will be home Dec. 15 between 5 and 8 p.m. for the visit by City Council.
• By submitting your entry, you agree that if you win, the city may publicize photos of your home and address in city publications and on social media platforms.
