We Want You to Know...

  • We are seeking suggestions to name permanently three important park properties as they progress forward: "The Olympia Armory," "Yelm Highway Community Park" and "Kaiser Woods Park." The deadline to submit suggested names is September 27. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) will host a public hearing at 6 p.m. on October 17 to review and gather public comment on suggested names. More information, including how to submit name suggestions, can be found here.
  • Join us for Lula Fest on Saturday, 9/28, from 3:00-9:00 PM at Isthmus Park to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Enjoy live music, vendors, food trucks, custom cars, and more. This family-friendly event is free. Ride fare-free Intercity Transit and use their trip planner to find a route to downtown Olympia, or walk, bike, or roll in. Bike racks are available downtown, and secure bike lockers are at the Olympia Transit Center (BYO lock). For details, visit the Lula Fest Facebook event page.

  • Need a place to host your next meeting, class or event? The Olympia Center, Harbor House, and Park Shelters are here to meet your needs. Give us a call at 360.753.8380 for more information.
  • Save the date for Fall Arts Walk on October 4-5, featuring this year's cover artist, Eileen Bochsler! Join us Friday, October 4, from 6-10 PM and Saturday, October 5, from 12-6 PM for a vibrant two-day celebration of community, culture, and the arts. Over 100 local businesses will host artists, makers, and performers, transforming downtown Olympia into a creative hub filled with exhibits, events, and interactive activities!
  • What's happening at Yauger Park? Starting in mid-September, a contractor will build a paved sidewalk around the Alta Street parking lot and paths connecting the southern lot to the ballfields and playground. This will improve access for all users, including those with mobility aids, strollers, and wagons. Portions of the park will be closed during construction, which is expected to finish in October. For everyone's safety, please avoid closed areas. Questions? Contact Diane Utter at [email protected] or 360.753.8282.
  • Construction is underway at Grass Lake, focusing on the trail, parking lot, and mitigation site. The contractor is currently clearing the trail and boardwalk alignment, with boardwalk foundation work set to begin in the coming weeks. An independent artist is transforming a steel tank from the site into two mushroom sculptures for each trailhead and a bird blind, which will be installed along the boardwalk.
  • Are you interested in learning more about trees and sharing that information with neighbors to help preserve and protect more of the big trees in our neighborhoods?
