Presiding Judge Georgini Appoints New Chief Adult Probation Officer

Pinal County Superior Court Presiding Judge Georgini has announced the appointment of John Fuery as the next Chief Adult Probation Officer, effective September 1, 2024.

John continues to build a distinguished career with the Pinal County Superior Court, which began in 2005 when he joined as a field Probation Officer. His dedication, strong work ethic, and extensive expertise led to his promotion to Lead Officer in 2012, Supervisor in 2013, and then Division Manager in Juvenile Court in 2016. He returned to Adult Probation as a Division Manager in 2023.

John takes the reigns from Saul Schoon, who came to the County in 2021 to help the Adult Probation Department through a transition period and was instrumental in helping select John for the position. Chief Schoon, who has agreed to stay on and serve in an advisory capacity until December 2, 2024, said, "I am confident that with John, the very best days of the department are still ahead. John is extremely knowledgeable about the best practices in community corrections and has a strong passion for seeing probationers change their behavior and improve their lives. He has the unique ability to connect with people, and his high level of emotional intelligence makes him a perfect fit for the Chief's position."

John was recognized by his peers as Probation Officer of the Year in 2010 and Supervisor of the Year in 2015 and 2021. In 2019, John earned a Master's degree in Justice Management from the University of Nevada to further enhance his qualifications.

In addition to his active role, John significantly contributes to the field as an educator. He teaches evidence-based practices at the probation academy and serves as a master trainer for the state of Arizona in Effective Practices in Correctional Settings (EPICS).
