State Police in Troop G make notable DWI arrests 7/17- 7/25

On July 17, 2024, at about 3:59 p.m., State Police of New Scotland responded to the reports of a vehicle off the roadway in the area of Reservoir Road in Pittstown, NY. The uninjured driver was identified as Steven Z. Mallory, 24, of Hoosick Falls, NY. Mallory was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic law violations. He was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where he recorded a 0.20% BAC. Mallory was issued tickets returnable to the Pittstown Town Court on August 7, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On July 20, 2024, at about 11:59 a.m. State Police of Clifton Park were dispatched to the area of Longkill Road in Clifton Park, NY, for the reports of a possibly impaired driver. A vehicle matching the caller's description was located in the parking lot of the location. The driver was nearby and identified as Meaghan M. Kohls, 45, of Ballston Lake, NY. Kohls was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where she recorded a 0.29% BAC. Further investigation discovered Kohls has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. She was issued tickets returnable to the Clifton Park Town Court on August 28, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On July 20, 2024, at about 9:02 p.m. State Police of Saratoga, in partnership with the New York State Forest Rangers, stopped a vehicle on Roosevelt Drive in Saratoga, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Jay A. Lapier, 32, of Fort Ann, NY. Lapier was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Saratoga for processing, where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. Further investigation discovered Lapier has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. He was issued tickets returnable to the Saratoga Town Court on August 6, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On July 20, 2024, at about 9:20 p.m., State Police of Chestertown stopped a vehicle on Aviation Road in Queensbury, NY, for Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The driver was identified as Kane A. Burt, 22, of Troy, NY. Also located in the vehicle were three children under the age of 16. Burt was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by drugs with a Child (Leandra's Law), and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The children were turned over to a family member, and Burt was transported to SP Queensbury for processing. While in custody, Burt was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), and a blood sample was collected to determine the drug content of his blood. He was issued tickets returnable to the Queensbury Town Court on July 29, 2024, and released.

On July 21, 2024, at about 12:01 a.m. State Police of Wilton stopped a vehicle on Saratoga Road in Wilton, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Joel J. Shattuck, 47, of Queensbury, NY. Also located in the vehicle was a child under the age of 16. Shattuck was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra's Law) and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The child was turned over to a family member, and Shattuck was transported to SP Wilton for processing, where he recorded a 0.17% BAC. He was issued tickets returnable to the Wilton Town Court and released to a sober third party.

On July 21, 2024, at about 12:29 a.m. State Police of Brunswick stopped a vehicle on Hoosick Street in Brunswick, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Andre P. Smith, 36, of Troy, NY. Also located in the vehicle was a child under the age of 16 who was turned over to a family member. Smith was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra's Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where he recorded a 0.27%. The investigation also discovered Smith's Driver's License had been revoked due to a previous DWI conviction. Smith was issued tickets returnable to the Brunswick Town Court on August 7, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On July 21, 2024, at about 9:37 p.m., State Police of Mayfield stopped a vehicle on State Route 30 in Wells, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Tyler C. Roy, 36, of Lake Pleasant, NY. Roy was arrested for Driving While intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Mayfield for processing, where he recorded a 0.21% BAC. Roy was issued tickets returnable to the Wells Town Court on August 21, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On July 22, 2024, at about 10:59 p.m., State Police of Brunswick responded to the report of a one-car crash off the roadway in the area of State Route 40 in Schaghticoke, NY. The vehicle's driver was located uninjured and identified as Kenneth W. Riddell, 31, of Valley Falls, NY. Riddell was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where he recorded a 0.26% BAC. Riddell was issued tickets returnable to the Schaghticoke Town Court on August 5, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On July 24, 2024, at about 10:50 p.m., State Police of Brunswick stopped a vehicle on State Route 7 in Hoosick, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Keith A. Jennings. Jennings was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where he recorded a 0.10% BAC. Further investigation discovered Jennings has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. He was issued tickets returnable to the Hoosick Town Court on August 1, 2024, and released to a sober third party.
