BATON ROUGE, LA - Wednesday, November 6, 2024 - Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and City-Parish officials are making preparations ahead of Hurricane Rafael, currently expected to make landfall in western Cuba later today and potentially reach the central Gulf of Mexico by Saturday or Sunday. While uncertainty remains regarding the extent of local impacts, if any, that we can expect by Saturday through Monday, East Baton Rouge Parish is Red Stick Ready for any potential impacts.
As a precautionary measure, City-Parish officials in coordination with BREC Parks and Recreation, have pre-positioned sand and sandbags at nine locations across the parish.
* Residents should bring their own shovels to fill the sandbags.
