Due to Hurricane Milton's significant rainfall, residents in Lake Harney, Astor, and all communities along the St. Johns River should prepare for the river's anticipated crest between Oct. 22 and 25. Those in the area are encouraged to make alternative shelter arrangements or stock up on essential supplies for several weeks as soon as possible while the roads are still passable.

Recommended items include bottled water, non-perishable food, medications, batteries, flashlights, hygiene products, and first aid supplies. Pet owners should also gather sufficient pet food, water, medications, and any necessary comfort items for their animals.

Roads are expected to become impassable until water levels recede, making travel unsafe. Limited access to first responders and other assistance is anticipated over the coming weeks, making it crucial for residents to take action now.
