Fire situation in Albania, August 3, 2024, 7:00 p.m...

As of 7:00 p.m. on August 3, 2024, operational forces coordinated by the National Civil Protection Agency are working to extinguish 12 active fires. Fourteen fires reported earlier in the day have been extinguished.

In Kurbin municipality, particularly in Skuraj, the situation is being closely monitored due to a fire reactivation. However, the intensity is currently low and poses no threat to residential areas. Efforts are ongoing to extinguish the fire on Kakarriqi Mountain in Lezha municipality. While the fire has been largely controlled, it occasionally flares up due to the wind. A total of 90 operational forces from the Armed Forces and local structures are involved in extinguishing it. Additionally, efforts continue to fully isolate the fire on Lopçit Mountain in Shkodër.

In the Bode forest area above Lozhan village in Maliq municipality, 26 operatives from the Armed Forces and 50 personnel from local Maliq municipality structures are working to control the fire. The situation is now under control, and the fire no longer poses a risk of spreading.

The fire in Qarrishte village, Librazhd municipality, within the Shebenik National Park, has also been brought under control. Efforts are ongoing in the area known as "Mali i Qukes" in Prrenjas municipality, which currently does not pose a risk of spreading.

At Mount Lugë in Kus village, Tirana municipality, forces have successfully brought the fire under control. In Mallakastër municipality, operational forces are working to extinguish a fire at a waste dump, which continues to burn at a low intensity. Resources deployed include one fire engine, four heavy scrap vehicles, and two heavy-duty self-loading transport vehicles. Efforts are also underway to encapsulate the waste.

In Mazhar village, Sevaster administrative unit, Selenica municipality, a fire has erupted in an area with bushes and dense vegetation on steep terrain. The fire does not pose a risk of spreading as it is contained by a stream.

In Bolenë village, Horë-Vranisht administrative unit, Himarë municipality, a fire has started in an area of grass and pasture at high altitude. Despite the challenging terrain, the fire is not considered dangerous.

The situation in Ninat village, Konispol municipality, where a fire is burning in a pasture area, is being closely monitored. Strong winds are fueling the flames, but they remain distant from residential areas.

Another fire at "Ura e Zharra" in Turan village, Tepelena municipality, has been brought under control. Today, a fire was detected in Karoq village, Livadhja administrative unit, Finiq municipality, in an area with bushes and low vegetation. A response team from MZSH Finiq is on site. Currently, it does not pose a risk.

A total of 450 personnel and 33 vehicles have been deployed in these operations, with an additional 130 troops from the Armed Forces providing support. We urge citizens to report fires promptly to help authorities respond in a timely manner and extinguish the fires.
