MERCOSUR Foreign Ministers’ Meeting – Montevideo, September 2, 2024

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, is paticipating today, September 2, in the MERCOSUR Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Montevideo. This will be the first ministerial meeting during the current Uruguayan Pro Tempore Presidency of the bloc.

During the meeting, the priorities of the Uruguayan Pro Tempore Presidency (PPTU) will be presented. The foreign ministers will address issues concerning the improvement of MERCOSUR as a platform for the international insertion of its Member States; strengthening the bloc's institutions; deepening the integration process; and trade negotiations with external partners.

The meeting will also address potential courses of action towards the adoption of concrete measures in MERCOSUR with a view to promoting sustainable trade.

This will be the first meeting of the bloc's foreign ministers in which Bolivia will participate as a Member State. The foreign ministers will also address Bolivia's process of adoption of the MERCOSUR regulatory framework.
