St. Helens Cooling Center Information for September 5-6

St. Helens, Ore. - The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning which covers the St. Helens area. The warning is in effect from 12 p.m. on Thursday,September 5, 2024, until 10p.m. on Friday, September 6.
The City of St. Helens is activating the St. Helens Public Library (Columbia Center) as a Cooling Center location during this weather event. The Columbia Center lobby and Library are located at 375 S. 18th Street, St. Helens. The Columbia Center and Library will act as a Cooling Center on the following dates and times:
- Thursday, September5: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday, September6: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Food and drinks are allowed in the Columbia Center lobby. Limited bottled water will be available. Restrooms and a drinking fountain are available. Only service animals are allowed inside the building. Other pets will be allowed on a leash or in a carrier on the covered porch as long as they are attended by a person (no livestock). The following locations in St. Helens also welcome the public to visit them as a place to stay cool during the heatbut are not operating as official cooling centers:
