Readout of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr.'s Phone Call with Australian Chief of the Defence Force Adm. David Johnston

Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Australian Chief of the Defence Force Adm. David Johnston today by phone.

The two military leaders discussed Australia Defence Force priorities and interoperability among the U.S., Australian and regional militaries. Additionally, Gen. Brown congratulated Adm. Johnston on his recent appointment and Australia's publication of their National Defence Strategy.

The U.S.- Australian alliance is the foundation for defense and security cooperation for our two nations, while also playing a critical role in maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
