Northbound US 131 bridge repairs over M 115 begin Sept. 3

GAYLORD, Mich. -The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $3.6 million to repair the northbound US-131 bridge over M-115south of Cadillac in Wexford County. The project includes deck replacement, steel repairs, pin and hanger replacement, structural steel cleaning and coating, substructure repairs, guardrail, and approach work. Similar repairs to the southbound US-131 bridge over M-115 were completed this spring.

Traffic restrictions:
Traffic will be detoured around the bridge using the northbound US-131 on and off ramps, controlled with a temporary traffic signal at M-115.

Some work on the bridge, including demolition and concrete pouring, will require intermittent nighttime closures of M-115. During those closures, westbound M-115 traffic will be detoured north on US-131 to Exit 177 at 43 Mile Road and south on US-131; eastbound M-115 traffic will be detoured south on US-131 to Exit 168 at Tustin and north on US-131.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 51 jobs.
